DID YOU KNOW...?
Norcross is getting ready to welcome Cheri Hobson-Matthews as its next city manager, following Eric Johnson’s retirement this September! Her contract is expected to go before City Council for a vote on August 24. Cheri brings more than two decades of local government experience, including nearly 24 years with Henry County. She started there as a planner in 2002 and worked her way up to county manager in 2017.
In that role, she led roughly 1,600 employees and managed a $280 million annual budget. During her tenure, Henry County earned a AAA bond rating, and Cheri received the Georgia City-County Management Association’s 2024 Pillar of Professional Excellence Award. She was selected after a nationwide search that drew 216 applicants and narrowed to six finalists!

Summer Concert Series
COT Band takes the stage at Thrasher Park tomorrow, August 14, from 7:30-9:30pm. The free concert will feature R&B, pop and classic hits as part of the Summer Concert Series. Fall Cornhole League
Peach State Cornhole is gearing up for its eight-week fall season at Social Fox Brewing in Historic Downtown Norcross. The league runs Sundays from August 23 through October 11, and all skill levels are welcome. Register as a team of two to four players or sign up as a free agent. The season includes eight weeks of play, league shirts and a City Tournament to close out the season, with top teams invited to the PSC Fall State Tournament. Registration closes Monday, August 17. Connected, But Distracted: A Community Conversation We All Need
The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber will host a community conversation about how smartphones, social media, and constant connectivity affect mental health, relationships, learning and productivity. Speakers Dr. Grant Rivera and Joey Odom will share practical strategies for families, schools and workplaces. Networking and lunch begin at 11:30am, followed by the program from 12-1pm Thursday, August 20, at the Peachtree Corners Hilton. Registration is required by Tuesday, August 18!
