DID YOU KNOW...?
Like many of you, I was heartbroken to hear the news of Council Member Marshall Cheek’s passing this week. Marshall was Patty’s husband, a father, a grandfather lovingly known as “Captain,” and someone whose care for people seemed to show up naturally. In Norcross, that care was felt through his service on City Council, his work with the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Norcross-based company he co-founded, Paulson-Cheek Mechanical.
Marshall’s kindness was easy to feel. You did not have to know him well to sense his sincerity, his steady way of listening, and his love for this community. His time on Council was limited, but his care for Norcross reached far beyond that role. He will be deeply missed in this community.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 23, at 3 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road NE in Brookhaven. A reception will immediately follow. For those looking for a practical way to support his family, Barbi Grayson shared a meal train for Patty.

Summer Concert Series Continues Tonight
The City of Norcross Summer Concert Series continues tonight, Friday, June 19, with ‘September in the Park’ at Thrasher Park from 7:30-9:30pm! Bring a picnic or grab dinner downtown, then settle in for a summer evening of funk, soul, tight horns, powerful vocals and plenty of groove!
Father’s Day Pop-Up
Celebrate Father’s Day weekend in Downtown Norcross on Saturday, June 20, from 12-5pm! Stop by the Betty Mauldin Parking Lot for inflatable T-ball, basketball and foam axe throwing. Plus a special appearance from Chopper, the Gwinnett Stripers mascot, from 1-2pm!! There will also be Father’s Day photo spots at 9 S. Peachtree and Betty Mauldin Park. Bring your own camera or phone, and make an afternoon of it with downtown shops and restaurants nearby!

Two rentals are currently available near downtown Norcross! The first is a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home at 223 Academy Street, next to the Community Gardens and Welcome Center. The second is a carriage house apartment across from Thrasher Park in Historic Norcross.
